Yuup Gifts, Promos & Credit


As an experience website, Yuup strives to create an excellent user journey to attract customers and continue to support our fantastic community of hosts.  
 
Part of this includes giving customers the option to purchase experiences as gifts for other people, alongside gifting Yuup credit. This guide will break down what each of these features means to our hosts and how they might appear through the Yuup platform.  

Gifts

Every Yuup experience has the option to be purchased as a gift by choosing the option above the available date/s.

Each gift comes with a gift card and gift code which are delivered to the purchaser to then pass on to the gift recipient. The picture below shows what a Yuup gift card looks like!  

When a host receives a gift booking, the booking will appear in their Yuup Host Portal with a tag – This is a gift, a Booking ID and the customer name. The customer name will be that of the gift purchaser, however, once the gift is redeemed by the gift recipient (at yuup.co/redeem) the name of the recipient will replace that of the purchaser. The Booking ID will remain the same, as the booking itself has not changed, only the name associated with it.  

Please note that if the gift has not been redeemed, the name associated with the booking will remain that of the gift purchaser and will appear as such under Yuup guest lists.  

Unscheduled Gifts

By default, customers have the option to purchase a gifted experience without a date – allowing the recipient to schedule their experience at a preferred time.  

There is no action required from the host to move an unscheduled gift booking onto a date. This action remains with the customer/gift recipient.  

Hosts have the choice to remove the option to schedule at a later date, making it compulsory for the customer to choose a date before purchasing. This feature will not prohibit the customer from buying a gift; it only prevents them from buying an experience without a date.  
 
If you wish to have this option turned on to prevent unscheduled purchases being made, please contact the Yuup team who will assist you.  

Expiring and Refunding Gifts 

Yuup gifts remain valid for 1 year from the day of purchase. If the gift expires without being used, the customer will automatically be refunded, minus a 20% cancellation fee which will go to Yuup.  


For this reason, it is Yuup policy that gift bookings are non-refundable before the date of expiry. We therefore ask that our hosts do not promise refunds to customers who have booked/received gifts. If a host feels there is an exceptional circumstance where a gift booking should be refunded, please contact the Yuup team.  

Promos

On occasion, Yuup will run promotional codes that offer discounts to our customers as an extra incentive to buy experiences.  
 
These codes and other promotional prizes can usually be found across the top banner of our website or in our emails/newsletters. 

The cost of Yuup promo codes will be entirely covered by Yuup and will in no way affect the payouts to our hosts, who will receive the full price of their experience as advertised (minus standard Yuup commission).

Yuup Credit 

Customers may also purchase Yuup Gift Credit which may be applied to any experience of the recipient’s choosing.  

Similar to gifted experiences, the purchaser will receive a gift card and code to send to the recipient who can redeem at yuup.co/redeem_promo. 


Gifted credit is non-refundable and expires 1 year from the day of purchase.
