This month we wanted to share a little bit about what we are doing behind the scenes, to give you an insight into how Yuup are continuing to support our host community and fulfil our mission of connecting local people with local experiences.
Driving growth of the Yuup platform
Over recent months, the Yuup team has been working on a hub and spoke model to drive platform growth and get our wonderful hosts in front of more potential customers.
A hub and spoke model works by directing customers to central landing pages (the hub), such as our Food and Drink landing page, which are more targeted and are optimised to be relevant to a specific type of experience a customer is trying to find. These hub pages act as a central place to link to our lovely individual experiences.
This model has led us to run more frequent micro-campaigns around key themes, search trends and times of year to better harness customer behaviours and buying habits. The aim here is to support growth by passing more authority from strong central pages that are showing on search to our experience pages, and by putting hosts in front of a more targeted audience and a more active audience.
So far, we are thrilled at how this is working and have seen some very positive impacts for hosts already.
Here are some key takeaways we've noticed so far:
- The campaign landing page saw a 2,273% increase in website users (that's more users seeing a broader range of hosts and experiences!)
- Hosts are seeing an increase in bookings month-on-month, ranging from a 33% increase to a 175% increase
- Hosts and their experiences are being exposed to more customers from a wider range of landing pages
Whilst this strategy is a little different to how we’ve approached marketing in the past, we feel that by moving away from an individual experience marketing focus and shifting towards a larger user-centred approach we can build on our success and offer a better experience for customers and hosts.
We believe that this, paired with our useful tips for hosts on how to improve their Yuup experience pages and how to leverage seasonality, will allow our community to thrive as we move into warmer months and locals look for more things to do.
