What is the Yuup direct booking feature and how does it work?

We hope this article will help to explain the benefits of using our direct booking feature as well as going into a bit more detail about what it is, how it works, and the advantages it offers to enhance your experience with Yuup.

So, let’s dive in!

What is Yuup’s direct booking feature?

Yuup’s direct booking feature allows hosts to link directly to Yuup from wherever they like; be that their website, email newsletters, or social media posts.

We created direct booking as a simpler way for our hosts to promote and share the experiences they list with us, giving potential customers an easier way to book and a user journey from start to finish.

Bookings made through a direct booking link offer an additional benefit to hosts as they incur a reduced commission rate of 5%, compared to the standard 20%. Plus, Yuup covers the card payment fee for all bookings, ensuring customers only pay the set price for each experience without any extra charges. We think that’s a win-win for everyone!

How does the direct booking feature work for hosts?

The direct booking feature operates by adding a unique referral ID to the end of an experience page URL.

Bookings made through this personalised link are tracked and those bookings are charged at the reduced 5% commission rate.

Here’s how our direct booking link looks:

  • Direct Booking Link: https://www.yuup.co/hosts/trylla?referral_id=sCA-2u2BglYiga93F1B-vQ
  • Standard Yuup Link: https://www.yuup.co/hosts/trylla

The direct booking feature allows hosts to leverage Yuup’s booking technology for their business without incurring the full 20% commission. These links can be embedded on websites, social media, emails, or even converted into QR codes for flyers and posters. The possibilities are endless!

One of our hosts, Alice from Trylla, uses direct booking links on her website for each of her workshops and classes. Where Alice would usually link through to the experiences on Yuup to promote them anyway, she instead links through to the Yuup site using the personalised URL so that she can get bookings and benefit from the lower 5% commission at the same time.

Why did we create direct booking?

We developed the direct booking feature to empower hosts to utilise the Yuup platform for direct sales to their audience, offering a reward of a reduced commission rate when generating more direct bookings from customers.

Direct booking enables our hosts to grow their business and manage bookings more cost-effectively using Yuup’s advanced technology.

For hosts who want to use the direct booking feature to optimise their sales process, we take a blended commission approach which means an average commission rate calculated from a mix of the standard 20% commission and the 5% direct booking commission.

The proportion of bookings made through direct booking vs regular booking determines the blended commission rate. On average, our host community enjoys a blended commission rate of 11%.

Go a step further with the Yuup embeddable booking widget

For hosts looking to integrate Yuup's booking system even more seamlessly, we also offer an embeddable booking widget.

This widget can be embedded on your website via an iframe, providing a direct booking system that loads directly onto a webpage of your choice with minimum effort or time required from you.

For more information or assistance with embedding the widget, please contact the Yuup team at hello@yuup.co
