Join Pavlov Ceramics in Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter for a hands-on workshop that will teach you how to throw a piece on the potter’s wheel. This two hour workshop is perfect if you want to learn how to work with clay and make your own pieces on the wheel.
In the first part of the workshop, you will delve into some essential theory of wheel throwing while learning how to prepare the clay. After a detailed demonstration, you will then have the opportunity to craft your own unique pots before selecting your favourite piece to glaze and keep.

Join James at Blow Water Cafe and discover the art of making your own ceramic tea bowls. Learn the ancient techniques of pinching, slab building, and shaping the clay with your hands.
You'll get to make two tea bowls from different techniques, one pinched and one slab built, and choose from several glaze options for your finished pieces.
After the pottery session, you'll also get to enjoy a mouthwatering serving of dumplings, freshly made at Blow Water Cafe. This workshop is a fantastic way to mingle with other craft lovers and make new friends over a shared hobby.

Pottery Painting at Barn Studio Ceramics
If painting pottery is more your thing, rather than making it, then head on over to Barn Studio Ceramics.
Choose what you'd like to paint, whether a mug, plate, bowl or animal, and your host Amanda will supply you with all the paints and tools to create a masterpiece. If you need some inspiration, she'll be on hand to give you some hints and tips – or you can look at all of the wonderful pieces around the studio to get some ideas!
