A new online marketplace for booking unique, local experiences has launched with a pilot in Bristol. The platform enables users to find, book, and gift a range of experiences within the Bristol region. Individual ‘hosts’ made up of business owners, creators and skilled individuals, are invited to use the platform to connect with customers in one simple-to-use marketplace.
Hosts will receive help and support in developing and marketing their experiences, from photography to copywriting. When featured on the platform, customers can browse by date or activity type to book experiences. Gift vouchers will also be available.
Speaking of the launch, Dominic Mills, Yuup’s Founder & CEO said
“I launched Yuup after trying to find a gift for my wife. You can order a pizza, or book a taxi online, but when looking for something a bit different, in the form of an experience, I was faced with hundreds of microsites and complicated booking options. The need to create one online marketplace was clear to me.
As the idea evolved, I realised the impact it could have on local economies by enabling hosts to turn their passions and hobbies into commercial opportunities, and for existing businesses to exponentially expand their customer base. For me, fun experiences shouldn’t just be for holidays but should also open up the communities on our doorsteps and enrich our everyday lives.”
The first experiences to be offered on the platform include candle making, graffiti tours, loom weaving, paddleboarding, pottery, upcycled fire pit making, welding and wine tasting. Following the Bristol pilot, Yuup plans on expanding to cities across the UK, offering locally sourced experiences to millions of people.
