In this experience, discover how to make a wire wrapped tree using semi-precious gemstones.
What's wire wrapping?
One of the oldest jewellery making techniques! The process involves wrapping wire around itself or other items, like crystals, gemstone or beads. You will work with metal wire that's bent and twisted into shape, rather than being soldered. The wire can be manipulated to make a loop that joins a design's different components together.
What to expect:
- An introduction to wire wrapping, suitable for complete beginners
- Learn how to create a wire wrapped sculpture with step-by-step guidance
- Choose from a variety of gemstones and various coloured wires
- Make a magnificent gemstone tree
- All materials will be provided

I booked this workshop for myself and my 15-year old niece and both of us enjoyed it.
Cath is a patient and engaging teacher and the activity itself was calming and quite mediative.
To leave with our own creations - unique wire wrapped gemstone trees - was lovely and rewarding. Mine now has pride of place in the living room!
Would definitely recommend if you are looking for a creative activity and I know I'll be keeping an eye on other Craftivities workshops.

On the day
- Access to the studio is via the main entrance (wheelchair friendly)
- There's plenty of on and off-road parking available
- Your host is a 15-20 minutes walk from Cradley Heath train and bus station
- Light refreshments will be provided on the day
- It's advisable to wear old clothes, however, aprons will be provided if needed
- Please note that your host can be flexible with the timings for this course
