EmailLooking for a unique way to celebrate Valentine’s Day with your partner, pal or palentine? Why not join Pottymouth Workshop for a fun and creative pottery session at Wiper and True Taproom, Bristol’s award-winning brewery?
You’ll learn how to make your own handcrafted clay mug with the help of ceramicists Naomi Stokes and Meredith Mason. They’ll show you the basics of slab building: rolling out clay, slip and scoring, and adding your personal touch with decorative techniques. You don’t need any previous experience with clay, just a willingness to get your hands dirty and have fun!
As you shape your mugs, you’ll also enjoy a drink from Wiper and True’s intimate neighbourhood bar. Choose from their range of delicious beers, such as Kaleidoscope Pale Ale or Tomorrow, and soak up the lively atmosphere in the original brewery. It’s the perfect way to unwind and unleash your inner artist.
What to expect:
- Learn the fundamentals of slab building, using a slip and scoring techniques
- Make your own own handcrafted clay mug with the help of professional ceramicists.
- Collect your cup 2-4 weeks later after they've been fired and glazed
Your mugs will be fired and glazed by your hosts and ready for collection within 2-4 weeks. You’ll have a lasting souvenir of your memorable date night and a new skill to show off.

Meredith Mason (She/Her)
Meredith is a ceramicist specialising in handbuilding with 3 years of teaching experience. She enjoys exploring clay techniques such as coiling, pinch pots and slab building. Bringing these techniques to a variety of workshops, Meredith aims to share her love of the clay world by guiding you through the process of handmade forms.
Naomi Stokes (She/Her)
Naomi is an expert potter with three years teaching experience. Naomi mostly works on the potter's wheel, but has recently reignited her love for hand building. Her aim is to help people realise their ideas in clay. Naomi will be on hand during the whole experience to give advice, support and plenty of encouragement.
