Creative journaling is a powerful way to process our thoughts, experiences and dreams. Often words, drawings and photos can act as visual prompts, reminding us of things we have seen, read or heard. Journals can be useful places to record these thoughts. Most importantly, they're safe places to let go of any inhibitions and express ourselves.
In this experience, learn some creative journaling techniques which could help you work through your feelings. This cathartic practice can promote healing from grief, trauma, or life's stresses. Your experience will be hosted by Amy, a professional artist who is studying for a Creative Arts Therapies degree. On her personal journey, Amy found the power of creative journaling transformative and wants to share this gift with others.
Amy will ease you in, encouraging you to relax into the experience and leave your inner-critic at the door. While this may seem daunting at first, your host will gently guide you throughout. Find yourself in a safe space, where you feel comfortable connecting with yourself and others in the room.
This workshop will combine self-discovery and art to bring you closer to your authentic self. Discover how creative journaling can help us process pent-up emotions and heal. All equipment and materials are provided, just bring yourself.

Amy is a professional artist who runs creative journaling workshops. She was first exposed to using art in a therapeutic way four years ago when she attended a Mindful Journaling course, following the death of her father. This course enabled Amy to navigate through the grieving process. She discovered art's therapeutic use - how it can help break down mental barriers and provide greater clarity. This experience inspired Amy to pursue healing through creativity further. Not just for herself, but for others too.
Amy is currently studying for a Creative Arts Therapy Studies Foundation Degree. She's found the benefits of image-making, self-reflection and journal keeping astounding. Each day Amy continues to learn new therapeutic approaches which support individuals and enable them to become more expressive through the arts.
Experiences, emotions and travels inspire her paintings. Working with mixed media such as Italian plaster, gold leaf and acrylics, Amy creates richly layered artwork zinging with life.
Amy is a professional artist with a studio in North Somerset's beautiful Barley Wood Walled Garden. Bright colours, vibrant cultures and personal travels inspire her work. In particular, textures and patterns from Mexico, India and Morocco. Amy believes we should be able to express our creativity without judgement or fear. Art has been an invaluable way for her to do this, she aims to create welcoming spaces that encourage others to do the same.
