Bring a camera or your smartphone for this 3-hour workshop where you will learn how to take professional pictures whilst in the stunning scenery of Avon Valley.

Your host is a professional award-winning photographer, who will be there to show you how to capture the best moments and get the most out of your equipment.

The Avon Valley is full of beautiful photo opportunities. Walking along with your host, you will see the lovely canal, river, viaducts, bridges, wildlife, churches and chocolate-box villages.

What to expect:

  • Learn about composition, exposure, focus, lens choice, tone and more!
  • Enjoy the gorgeous natural surroundings of Avon Valley
  • Be guided on how to take the best pictures
  • Get plenty of support from your host
  • Leave the day with a set of lovely pictures to look back on, plus a whole new set of skills to continue practising

What you will need:

  • A camera or smartphone
  • Warm, comfortable clothes, sturdy footwear and a bottle of water

Your host, Chris, will give you a call beforehand to talk about what you'd like to get from the workshop.

Avon Photo School

The Avon Photo School runs practical, walking workshops in stunning locations. These experiences offer you an opportunity to take exceptional photographs and enjoy beautiful scenery, all while developing your technical and creative confidence!

Whether you are a beginner or a keen amateur, these workshops provide you with the settings on your camera, the fundamentals of composition and exposure, and guide you through the concepts of depth of focus, lens choice, contrast, tone and texture.

Chris Roche

Chris’ photographs of people and places from around the world have won many awards internationally. His photographs have been published in international journals, exhibited at Royal Geographical Society in London and at United Nations Office at Geneva. He has published two books of his photographs and many of his limited edition prints are held by private collections.

Having lived in many different countries he is now based in the Avon Valley just outside Bath where he loves exploring the stunning countryside through the changing seasons. He leads photographic workshops in India, Iceland, Ireland and Italy as well as locally along the Avon Valley near Bath.
