In this lunchtime recital hear Preludes Music's specially curated programme featuring songs about the world, space and caring for our planet.
Preludes Music is the educational arm of charity and professional orchestra, the Bristol Ensemble. With around 140 concerts and events in 2024 alone, reaching nearly 50,000 people, the Ensemble is one of the country’s busiest and most versatile chamber orchestras.
Celebrating its 15th anniversary this year, Preludes Music provides high-quality music education and opportunities for children living in areas of need. Many of the children supported by Preludes Music live in low-income households with few opportunities beyond what they can access through school. Around one in four have special educational needs, disabilities or mental health issues. More than 80% live in areas of economic deprivation.
By partnering with schools Preludes reaches all children, including those who cannot engage outside of school, who can be the most vulnerable. Preludes tutors are approachable, fun, talented and trained to support a wide range of children and needs.
Teachers from schools who work with Preludes Music say:
“Children feel proud, seen and heard when making music. It boosts their confidence and ability to learn and retain. It's a transformative program, for children and leaders alike.”
“The learning and rapid progress the children make is phenomenal. It is the most inclusive practice I have ever seen.”
