In this experience, you will be getting your hands messy on the pottery wheel. You will learn how to use the spinning wheel to throw shapes out of clay.
Your host for this pottery class is professional potter Sandra from Art from Earth. Under her expert eye, you will learn all the tips and tricks needed for beginning to throw basic shapes.
What to expect:
- Learn how to throw basic shapes
- Plenty of one-to-one help from your host
- Lots of time to practise on the wheel
- Make between 3 and 6 finished pieces (such as cups or even some cute mushroom ornaments!)
- Tea and coffee to help along the way
This wheel-throwing workshop is the perfect introduction to the pottery wheel. Come along for a relaxing time getting creative. Leave with finished pieces that you can display at home.
Your host will glaze your finished pieces once they are dry, before posting them to you.
Minimum fitness level required.

Sandra was fantastic! I attended with my sister and it’s such a fun way to spend an afternoon, learning new skills! We had a blast, and would like to thank Sandra for her humour and patience as I am definitely not a natural! Would 100% recommend. Set in the very lovely craft village within the Halfpenny Green Vineyard estate.

From start to finish this workshop was great fun ☺️. Sandra was amazing- really attentive, supportive and empowering!
Having done a similar experience elsewhere, this one was much better value and we got to support local! We had 1:1 guidance and got to throw 5 pieces and Sandra was always available to rescue us (our pots) if we ran into trouble. Milo 🐶 also provided moral support.
Can’t wait to see how they turn out once trimmed and glazed (we got to chose the colour).
10/10 experience!

Art from Earth is an independent pottery studio based in the Halfpenny Vineyard. Run by professional potter Sandra, these experiences are a great way to relax, have fun and get creative with clay!
Art from Earth studio is a beautiful space to explore crafting and pottery workshops. The space is also home to a wild zoo, a deli and a balcony restaurant, where you can even catch a spectacular bird show after your pottery class.
