What to expect:

Integrating Movement with Art: Unlike traditional workshops, Play and Paint begins with guided movement meditations, encouraging participants to connect with their bodies. This physical engagement enhances creativity by stimulating both the body and the mind, creating a holistic approach to art.

Emphasis on Play: Play is at the heart of this workshop. Through explorative exercises, participants are encouraged to let go of inhibitions and approach creativity with a sense of curiosity and joy. This playful environment helps to reduce stress and allows for uninhibited self-expression.

Blending initiative expression and techniques: With guided drawing and painting exercises, attendees are introduced to new techniques to drawing. Which they can find a balance with pure-intuitive expression.

A Fusion of Modalities: This workshop blends the best of multiple disciplines—movement, meditation, play, and art—creating a rich, multi-sensory experience. This fusion helps participants tap into their creativity in a way they might not have experienced before.

Deep Personal Connection: By engaging the body and the mind, participants walk away with more than just paintings—they experience personal insight and connection to their creative selves.

A Safe Space for Experimentation: This workshop offers a supportive environment where individuals can explore without judgment or pressure, allowing for pure, unfiltered artistic expression.

A Lasting Impact: The tools and techniques learned in the workshop—such as mindful movement and playful creation—can be carried into everyday life, enriching both personal and professional creativity.

Play and Paint is more than just a workshop—it’s a transformative experience where participants rediscover the joy of movement and creativity. By engaging the body, mind, and spirit, this workshop helps unlock new layers of inspiration and artistic expression, making it truly unique and memorable.

SAB Studio

I am a British-Indian artist based in Bristol, with a passion for exploring a wide range of artistic mediums. Recently, my focus has been on the traditional Japanese brush painting style known as 'Sumi-e'. For me, the movement of the brush and the bleed of the ink into the paper is a meditation. There is an aliveness to the paintings and a rhythmic quality. As though the painters were dancing in the process.

Inspired by this connection between art and movement, I launched my latest project, Moving Ink, where I explore the dynamic relationship between live ink paintings and the fluidity of dancers. This project has also informed my own process, where I integrate movement from my body into my painting practice.

I now offer a series of workshops sharing this art form, including ‘Live-Motion Drawing Workshops’ where participants learn the fundamentals of gesture drawing and capturing motion with dynamic poses. I also host playful, movement-based painting sessions called ‘Play and Paint.’ My aim is to help others experience the joy of creative expression through motion, while teaching techniques that bring art to life.
