Learn how to make a slip-cast ceramic pot in this 2.5-hour taster session. You will be guided through the slip-casting process of using coloured slip and plaster moulds to create a unique piece.
You don't have to have any experience of ceramics or pottery, this session is for people who would like to try something new or refresh their knowledge of the process in a relaxed and welcoming environment.
Slip-casting is a ceramic forming technique that involves pouring liquid clay (slip) into a plaster mould, allowing it to form a layer on the sides of the mould before pouring the excess slip back out. The clay is then trimmed and dried before removing the cast from the mould.
You will be able to make one cast (pot) in the session and this will need to be left at the studio to be processed and fired in our kiln. You can collect it from the studio 3-4 weeks later or we can post it to you for a small fee, just to cover the postage.
