Make your own Bristol balloon glass art with local glass artist and chief maker at The Glass Cabin, Rachael.
Using fused glass techniques, you’ll create your unique glass balloon sun catcher. Rachael will be on hand with examples and inspiration for your piece, there are plenty of templates to guide your design or you can be as creative as you wish. Selecting from a rainbow of coloured glass and glass accessories to make you piece. You’ll finish up with a beautifully embellished balloon to keep yourself or give as a custom made gift.
This is a taster fused glass workshop and you will learn the basics of kiln formed glass techniques whilst creating your glass piece. The workshop is informal, fun and relaxing and no previous experience is necessary. If you do not wish to make a balloon on the day there are other options such as Freestyle Hanging or Flower Panel (hanging or in a stand). There are more example images of what has been made in workshops on my website and social media.
At the end of your experience Rachael will take your glass design away to fire, ready for you to pick up about a week later. Your finished balloon is packaged in a recycled gift box.

There is metered parking around the venue and lots of lovely cafes and bars on North Street.
Refreshments aren't provided during the workshop due to the nature of working with glass, however if you wish to bring a coffee to have during the introduction you can.

Rachael’s interest in fused glass was first sparked when she did an evening course in stained glass over 15 years ago. After discovering the techniques and broad creativity of this art form, she's been creating with glass ever since. Rachael works from her garden studio and when she isn’t hosting her glass art experiences you’ll find her there making her own art including trinket dishes and beautiful glass bunting. Rachael loves connecting with people and sharing her knowledge of working with glass, and her experiences are the perfect introduction to the world of glass art.
Rachael is the founder of The Glass Cabin and your experience host. She loves sharing glass art techniques and helping people express their creative skills to create a piece they’ll be proud of.
