You'll be hosted by

Effie Dalton (She/Her)

Effie Dalton is the owner and maker behind Ephemera Rose, a Bristol-based line of handcrafted jewellery.

A lifelong artist dabbling in various disciplines, Effie began taking silversmithing classes in the autumn of 2022, and fell in love with the medium. She founded Ephemera Rose the winter of the following year, initially working out of a friend's garage while between homes due to the Bristol housing crisis.

Having always been drawn to eccentric fashion, Effie wanted to design delicately rendered statement pieces, alternative and quirky in nature, yet subtle enough for everyday wear. She takes inspiration from the celestial and natural worlds, '90s and '00s cinema, and painters and decorative artists of the Art Nouveau movement, among others.

When not busy crafting at her workbench, she can be found at various markets around Bristol and the South West, happily chatting away to customers about her work.

Iona Hall (She/Her)

Iona is a silversmith and jeweller, graduating from Glasgow School of Art in 2018 and Bishopsland Educational Trust in 2019.

Iona's passion for objects, in particular boxes comes from the aspect of discovery that they hold. A box is an object that can fit in the palm of your hand, however once opened it can reveal a sentiment of treasure. Iona's work inspires a compulsion to pick her pieces up, a personal keepsake that demands further exploration from the viewer. Her pieces create an intimate space between the viewer and the object. They are made to hold, use and be discovered from many angles, as the design has been considered for both exterior and interior.

Iona is drawn to movement, lines and irregular patterns in natural forms from the beaches near her home in Scotland. She translates these elements into her work using the techniques of chasing and repousse, detailed solering of wires, and scoring and folding, with the additional use of stone setting to bring a hint of colour in her work.

The jewellery is an abstraction of her larger work, isolating and developing elements from the boxes into a wearable object. Iona has exhibited both nationally and internationally.
