Join us for a one-day introduction to screenprinting. This class is set up to give you a good introduction to screenprinting, taking you through the process of printing a two-colour design onto A2-sized paper.
You will get a tour of the studio and all the equipment you will use, an introduction to what screenprinting is and how it gets used. You will then work on the process of making your own two-colour design as a print, using various tools and pieces of machinery.
At the end of the day, you will have a print edition of your own artwork to take away with you, and an understanding of the steps involved to take a design from concept to screenprinted artwork.
This is a hands-on day where you get to set up the equipment and do the printing yourself. The only thing you might miss out on is some of the cleaning up. The course is for up to four people, so there will be plenty of time for discussion and practical work.
This class is designed to be a relaxed, fun day where you get to try out lots of the techniques which go into producing a screenprint. We will also drink tea or coffee and eat biscuits.
What to expect:
There will be a lunch break at midday, where you can grab a bite from one of the many food delights on East Street or North Street.
Age restrictions: 18+
Adult | £98 |
The studio is at 137 East Street in the old Stan Butts butchers shop. For parking, you will find the best chance of free parking on: St John’s St, Church Rd, New John St, or British Rd. The studio is a bit cold at the moment, so I recommend you have on a few layers to give yourself a warm start. When printing, you'll warm up. We'll have a lunch break midday. There are plenty of places around here that you can eat, or if you want to bring your own food, you're welcome to stay in the studio
