This 3 week workshop is an ideal follow-on from our Beginners Machine Sewing course or for anyone with basic sewing machine skills who wants to start making their own clothes.
Learn how to read and understand commercial patterns and the foundation techniques for dressmaking while making a cosy pair of pyjama bottoms.
Included in the price is a 'Simplicity Commercial Pattern' with various his/ hers nightwear designs which you can take away and re-use. You will learn how to understand and adapt patterns to get a perfect fit. Plus, get to grips with waistbands, hemming, joining straight and curved seams and pattern matching and achieve a professional finish with the overlocker. Just bring your choice of fabric and a matching thread (thread also available to use at the studio).
Taught by experienced teacher Lauren, there is a max of 6 students per class, and each student has an individual workstation. This class is designed for students with basic sewing machine experience and taught on your own machine but if you do not have access to one we have some available for hire for £10 for the course duration.

Designer and Maker Lauren Holloway has been running her own slow-fashion handbag and accessory brand since 2013. Lauren specialises in making sustainable bags, purses, laptop cases and toiletry storage, all handcrafted in her Bristol-based studio. She has extensive knowledge and experience in designing patterns and sewing anything from coin purses to backpacks. Lauren offers a range of sewing workshops from beginner to intermediate level, where participants can learn the basics of using a domestic sewing machine, brush up on existing sewing skills or develop new techniques to improve their craft. You’ll leave the workshop with new-found knowledge and inspiration for future projects plus you’ll take home a beautiful handmade bag you can enjoy for years to come.
