Collective Presences is run by a good friend Elena (some of you may have been to her yoga classes?). It is a community initiative to bring people together over shared rituals and open conversation. I went to one of these workshops over winter where we learned all about Reishi mushroom and it was honestly the rest I didn't know I needed so I'm super excited to be collaborating on this next workshop!
So, here, we offer you a curious & earthy afternoon exploring our symbiotic relationship with native plants; how they might support immunity and conscious transition to the season of new beginnings. And ways we can build skills, knowledge, everyday rituals with them in teas and tinctures.
This is a walk, workshop and pizza party in one. Expect muddy knees, mouthfuls of spongey-oven-fired dough, and an afternoon of beautiful company in the cobbled Bridge Farm, nestled right in the urban edges of the city. Learn how - through myth, play, fact and discussion - we might re-remember plants unique personalities, building a deeper awareness around their places within our wider ecosystem.
We'll take a foraging walk through the grassy verges and hedgerows of Bridge Farm, to teach you the naturally medicinal qualities of plants that live in the nooks of the community gardens and allotments here, and all around us.
I'll share lots of depth about native plants, herbs, trees and flowers, and will support you in finding them with ease. Some safety precautions and ways to ethically harvest from different wild areas are two practical aspects I'll teach, as well as why we are so disconnected from this medicine in the first place.
Lunch is handmade pizzas from Tuscan-born pizzaiolo Andrea, straight from the wood-fired Bridge Farm oven. With the wild edible plants and flowers collected from our walk, we’ll make some colourful salads to share alongside them.
As we settle back into the barn, the afternoon moves into a teas & tinctures making workshop. Skilfully infuse wild plants into different tinctures and teas to take home with you, so as to extract the most potent properties, essential vitamins and minerals, and find out how to dose each remedy for different times of support.

Loved my time yesterday learning from Maria! Perfect balance of relaxed and informative! After dabbling during lock down and using a few obvious things in cocktails (elderflower). I learnt lots and also just had a wholesome day and walked away with some beautiful balms! Highly recommend!
This was my second foraging experience with healing weeds and it was every bit as enjoyable an informative as the previous ‘fruit cordials and syrups’ experience. Maria’s expert knowledge and bubbly personality make her a great host. The experience consists of a walk looking at some of the flora, discussing its uses and properties, followed by an opportunity to make a balm which we could take away.
I would thoroughly recommend to anyone interested in learning more about foraging.
A really excellent day. Maria was a great Host, knowledgable easy going and fun. We have never done anything like this before and the whole experience was enthralling. perfectly rounded off with a practical demonstration and 'hands on' demonstration of how to make your own 'healing' and beneficial remedy using the flora we had collected that morning. Thoroughly recommended.

Healing Weeds was created to reconnect us to both the traditional and scientific knowledge about the abundant wild edible and medicinal plants around us.
Through walks and workshops, these experiences are a place for you to gain confidence in foraging for your own wild food and medicine - and letting your unique creativity guide you onwards.
Maria is a Bristol-based forager and herbalist who started Healing Weeds to create a fun, human and relatable way to access foraging, no matter your experience.
Maria absolutely loves sharing this easy-to-learn knowledge through foraging walks, workshops and courses in Bristol where she shows people how to confidently identify and use some of the most common (and often most healing) plants in their local area.
