2 hrs 30 mins
(110)

Want to give the pottery wheel a whirl? Give hand building a go? Build your confidence working with clay? Fishponds Pottery's Crafty Pottery workshop ticks all the boxes.

This isn’t a pottery experience you’ll want to miss...

Fishponds Pottery offers a relaxed and supportive approach to pottery. Choose to make whatever you fancy in their workshops. Suitable for complete beginners, their tutors will guide you through your handbuilding project and show you the basics of wheel throwing. Get involved, make friends with other crafters, and get inspired in return!

What to expect:

  • A 2.5 hour pottery workshop where you can try out wheel throwing and hand building - freestyling is encouraged!
  • Demonstrations by experienced tutors at the beginning of the session.
  • Wheel throwing: your hosts will show you how to throw on the pottery wheel. Learn all about the wheel, the tools used, how to centre and pull up the walls on a pot - and what that means!!
  • Hand building: when you're not on the wheel, learn how to coil, pinch and slab build pots. You’ll be shown how to join clay using the score and slip technique, how to add texture, decorations and more.

What you need to know:

  • This experience is focused on learning new skills and finding inspiration - firing isn't included in this package.
  • If you want your work fired, your hosts offer a firing and glazing service for £15 per 2 pieces.
  • Pieces can take up to 6 weeks after your workshop date to be fully processed.

Age restrictions: 18+
