Create Your Own Bottle Terrarium with Wild Leaf

1 hr 30 mins
(16)

Come join some of the Wild Leaf team for an evening of planting up your own bottle terrarium.

In this workshop, you’ll learn everything you need to know about terrariums, from the history of how they came about to the science of how these tiny ecosystems thrive.

At the end of the evening, you’ll take home your freshly planted garden-under-glass and watch it grow.

[ Please note the vessel will change from January 2024. See the second image for reference. ]

What happens in a Terrarium workshop?

You’ll learn about the history and science behind these self-sustaining ecosystems before watching a quick demonstration where we describe the tools and plants on the table before getting stuck in to make your terrarium.

Which plants will I be using?

We use a variety of small tropical plants such as fittonia, ferns, pileas and mosses. You’ll be able to use a variety of plants, and every terrarium created always looks unique and beautiful.

How do I bring the terrarium home?

We’ll provide you with bags and care guides for safely getting your new terrarium home.

Should I arrive early?

We recommend arriving 5-10 minutes before the start time of your workshops so we can begin on time.

Do I need to bring a ticket?

Your order confirmation email is your ticket, and we’ll have your name on our list and will tick you off when you arrive.

Workshops are bring your own booze for over 18’s. Please speak to your host prior to purchasing a ticket for anyone under 16 years.

Attendees will also get the chance to purchase terrarium tools and components at the workshop and will receive 10% off in store that evening.

You'll be hosted by

Jessica (She/Her)

Jess has had an interest in plants for many years, some of her fondest childhood memories include dead heading the gorgeous flowers in her grandparents garden, as well as getting her hands messy with plantscaping. When Covid struck thats when her interest in houseplants really blossomed and her collection started to grow. Using this time locked inside she started to learn and understand the different needs of popular houseplants and in turn she could see the great impact caring for these creatures had on her mental health. Since working at Wild Leaf, her love and knowledge continues to grow everyday and now applies this to leading stunning terrarium and kokedama workshops.

Lyra (They/Them)

A philosophy student, artist and lover of the great outdoors, Lyra has had an affinity for the natural world for as long as they can remember. Walks and workshops in their local national trust grounds was a highlight of their youth, and hikes and wild camping in the South West being a frequent venture over the past few years, their respect and awe of the wonders of nature grows with every rotation round the sun.
With a passion for access to nature, and a keen interest in mycology, folklore and houseplants (of course!), Lyra has loved working with both people and plants at Wild Leaf through hosting workshops and being a friendly face on the shop floor.
