Create Your Own Unique Sketchbooks with Traditional Techniques.

Unleash your creativity in our bookbinding workshop, where you’ll craft two distinct, hand-made sketchbooks. This workshop is a perfect complement to our Mindful Art classes, including marbling and art journaling. If you've taken our marbling class, bring along your marbled papers to create personalised covers, making your sketchbook truly one-of-a-kind. Plus, you can continue to use your new sketchbooks in our art journaling class.

During this 2 hour immersive workshop, you'll learn two different bookbinding techniques:

1. A5 Japanese Bound Sketchbook This larger A5-sized sketchbook is created using traditional Japanese binding techniques. With a unique side-stitch pattern, it’s both sturdy and aesthetically pleasing. For this sketchbook, I have chosen the paper that is great for everyday sketching, doodling, and collage.

2. A6 Coptic Bound Sketchbook Ideal for watercolours and mixed media, this postcard-sized sketchbook features a chain stitch binding along the spine. This elegant, exposed stitching not only adds a decorative touch but also allows the book to open completely flat—perfect for more intricate art projects.

3. Hands-on learning in a relaxed environment. This is a mindful and meditative process, designed to help you unwind, focus, and enjoy the art of creation. There, you will be guided through every step of book binding process. All the materials you will need and refreshments will be provided.

4.Customisable Sketchbooks There will be beautiful papers to choose from but you are welcome to bring your own marbled paper (if you’ve taken our marbling class) to create a personalised cover for your A6 or A5 book. You’ll leave the workshop with two beautifully handcrafted sketchbooks—ready to be filled with your artistic ideas.
