Beginner Machine Sewing Course

3 week evening or full day Beginner Machine Sewing course at Creative Space.

Get to know your way round your sewing machine and learn the basic techniques through a series of small projects to take home. Choose from our 3 week evening course or opt to do it as a full day workshop. See dates and times below.

PLEASE NOTE: If there is no availability for the date you would like to book please message me and I may be able to open more spaces.

The course includes threading and setting up, different stitches, hemming, inserting a zip, making and joining pieces of a simple pattern. This is based on learning how to use your own machine but we have our own machines available to hire for an additional £10 if you don't have your own (payable at the venue).

There will be a max of 7 students, each with a separate workbench. Taught by professional seamstress and sewing teacher Lauren Holloway.

The course/workshop runs over the following dates:

EVENING COURSE (runs over 3 weeks from 7pm-9pm)

~ Feb - Wednesday 12th, 19th + 26th ~ March - Wednesday 12th, 19th + 26th ~ April - Wednesday 9th, 16th + 23rd ~ May - Wednesday 14th, 21st + 28th

FULL DAY COURSE (runs for one day from 10am-4pm)

~ Sunday January 26th 2025 (sold out) ~ Saturday 22nd February ~ Saturday 15th March ~ Sunday April 27th ~ Saturday 31st May

Please ignore Yuup times for the full day, the course is 6 hours long NOT 2 hours

What to expect

• Introduction to sewing machine basics and essential techniques.
• Guidance on threading, setting up and executing different stitches.
• Instruction on hemming and zip insertion.
• Lessons on creating and assembling simple pattern pieces.
• Option to learn on personal sewing machines, with rentals available for £10.
