A Christmas Carol Drone Light Show: Bristol

We were so delighted with this show. 2023's show was excellent but a little too short and not very Christmassy. We decided to try again as it was A Christmas Carol. Such a good move. Perfect evening, great location. Well done.

Loved it - I thought it very clever, the programming of the drones. Visually attractive but could have gone on longer. |We had hospitality. My smoked fish & chips was excellent & included drinks, excellent!

I'd go to one again if there is one next year. It would be fun if the drones occasionally zoomed around faster!!

My husband and I had a fabulous time … we knew what to expect but were blown away by how it all came together. The weather was definitely on our side too with a crisp clear night.

Our second Christmas Drone show with Celestial at the Gloucester Cricket Ground and yet again it didn't disappoint. A really great way to tell a timeless story and the drone set-ups were flawless. We brought friends this year and they loved it too. The kids were talking about it all through Christmas.

Already hoping that we will be able to see another show in 2025!

The drone show itself was really good, quite well done with music and lights to match. Food and drink seemed very pricey.

A VERY ENJOYABLE EVENT

I went to watch the Evolution show last year which i thought was very good but the Christmas carol story was even better, the story was told amazingly and the images were unbelievably good, especially when you remember it’s all done with individual drones! I would highly recommend this event and am looking forward to what story next year brings!

Very good show. Felt perhaps the story was a little complex to be told by drones, but still enjoyable. It was very seasonal though. Our group thoroughly enjoyed it. Quite magical the way the drones work. Fascinating.
We also went to last year's and enjoyed that too.

Amazing show, great story with lights and narrator as well as the incredible drones. So so clever, never seen anything like it before.

The story was very well told, the sound quality was very clear and we were amazed to see some of the images that the drones created.

Very helpful staff at Neville Road (officially closed) entrance and inside the stadium - who recommended the best area to suit for an excellent view.

We all really enjoyed the evening. Felt the show was very well done. Very creative and wonderful to watch. Easy to get to venue, walkable from my home. Would come again for another Christmas show

It was lovely - information about parking nearby would have been helpful. There were pauses which seemed long (but maybe necessary for the technology?). Would definitely recommend. Venue staff were really polite and friendly and it was a lovely, unusual treat just before Christmas.

Great fun for the family, really nice venue with very good facilities at a great location in the middle of Bristol. Some of the audience were talking throughout which distracted from the display a little bit otherwise a great experience.

We, a family of four, were impressed with the show. We liked the story (a classic) and thought it was well delivered by the drones and narration by Matt Lucas. How do they operate so many drones at once to create the images? Magic.

Really great time! I would love to see another drone show but created around music instead of spoken story. Will definitely keep an eye out for next year’s Christmas events.

We thought it was great entertainment.The communication was excellent ! Very regular emails and texts with updates regarding the moving of dates due to the weather conditions. We couldn't fault the communication.

Certainly exceeded my expectations. We thoroughly enjoyed the evening although the drinks and snacks were expensive.

We didn't know really what to expect when we booked, but what a fantastic experience it was! So clever with all the drone animations, and the narration was perfect. Our party of 4 adults all left with a big smile, would absolutely recommend it, and will definitely go again!

Very good event, something different and brilliantly creative. Really recommend Yuup - we had 3 people who couldn’t make the rearranged date (weather issues forced a rearrangement). Had a near instant response and no quibble on a refund for 3 of our tickets. Really hope it was a success for the company as it’s a shame they had to use contingency dates. Thoroughly recommend.

I would have enjoyed a longer performance. But perhaps this was a better length for children

Apart from a delay due to bad weather, the show was creative, fun, and a good length.

Only slight issue is parking for the venue, otherwise brilliant

The actual show was fantastic but the build up to it was to long . The show could have been longer .
The county ground needed better clearer seating signage and more activities for children .

I loved it! It was longer than last year and I preferred the theme of a story to the factual retelling of last year. The drones were amazing, buzzing around like bees, constantly transforming as they moved. Seating was good with excellent views for everyone. There was plenty of food, hot drinks & entertainment to extend the family experience. Great evening!

Very creative would definitely book again

This was amazing. We enjoyed it from the beginning and were sad when it ended. It is utterly clever and we felt privileged to be able to see something so beautifully rendered.

Absolutely brilliant. Great sound system. Matt lucas was perfect as the narrator . Food was pricey, but that didn't stop us having a very good night.

Second experience of the drones and it didn't disappoint.

Thoroughly enjoyable. We didn't really know what to expect but it was well planned, easy to see and a lovely story. The food outlets were great, good choices and very hot. Just what we needed on a very chilly evening.

The whole experience was wonderful but the venue posed a huge problem with traffic queuing and parking . We got a taxi but this increased the cost of the evening and weven the taxi driver was panicking trying to manoeuvre through the narrow streets and traffic. Once inside the ground the whole event was wonderful.

Amazing show so much better than I could have imagined. All staff both Yuup and GCCC were extremely helpful and friendly. The buffet was excellent too. All in all, it was a great night out.

A 10/10 experience! The food village and Christmas music meant that we had lots to enjoy ahead of the performance. The performance itself was magical and so impressive, and staff were all really friendly and helpful. A great Christmas outing!

The show was incredible, really enjoyed it. Was very clever about what they've managed to do with the drones, the images that were being created were incredible. Only slight weird bit was that because the drones were split across three groups, there was an awkward couple of minutes where the drones had to land and then the new batch launched. If they'd been more spread out across the field perhaps they could have landed and launched at the same time.

A good story, well told and some very clever work from the drones - spectacular visuals. Kids really enjoyed it!

Second year we've been to the drone show and loved it again! Great to have a Christmas theme this year and the narration and additional lights were great. All staff there were super friendly and were very helpful when I had to report a lost debit card. Queues were very well managed and easy to get food etc inside. Nice selection of vendors too. We really enjoyed our evening with you, thank you, and Happy Christmas! 😊

Last year it was spectacular, i felt a little let down this year. Could not make out some of the things. Not sure i would come again.

This was magical and such a great christmassey thing to do. We were all blown away. 45 minutes flew by so quickly, we didn't want it to end. We took 11 and 14 year old boya and they also loved it

Good fun and the drones were awesome but the delays between the start of the show and each segment were long and sometimes awkward. I think if they had the drones with Christmas songs it would have worked better. Lovely venue and staff.

Very entertaining well put together I really enjoyed it, only problem was the seating some people were told to seat anywhere while others were still looking for theirs seats only to find people already sitting in them I witnessed a few arguments regarding this. Other than that it was a very magical experience

First drone show I've seen. It was excellently narrated. Nice to have some food trucks available. It could have been a bit longer. The narration with the show was great. Just the price was a bit high

It was absolutely brilliant, a lovely story being told with the drones working by the side, it was so good to see and felt very Christmassy. We were very lucky with the weather it was nice and dry, although it had rained earlier and the seats were wet. There was food stands and rides and games to play, I would definitely recommend it

A beautiful sensory experience. But you definitely dont need to arrive at the point of gates opening as its too long to wait until the show.

The drones were incredible. Only thing that lost a star was that start time of the show was do late. There was not enough Pre-show to keep everyone entertained and meant quite a lot of hanging about for children then a late finish. 7;45 start would have been better.

Loved seeing the drones creating the shapes of the characters and objects, the amount of work that has gone into it was mind blowing. The show was the right amount of time (45 minutes) and it was great to see innovative modern technology retelling a classic and much loved story.

There was a lot to like about the drone version of A Christmas Carol. There were some really great moments but it was let down by some poor decisions in the storytelling. Most problematic was the needlessly changing the end of the story. This is not a story that needs to be changed. I'd recommend it though. Just relax into it and let the imperfections go and it's worth it.

I wasn’t sure what to expect but everything was really well organised and the event was completely different to anything else we’d done. Probably more suited to older children and adults than young children but as two adults we really enjoyed it.

It was a cold night, but that faded away when the show started. Never seen a drone show before, I would recommend it. The narration also brought it to life

Drone light show was fun and very well produced. Everyone was captivated. Surrounding funfair lacked lustre and was far too expensive.

While I appreciate the technology was amazing The story was a bit tricky for the children to follow I it was also at least 20 mins loo long maybe better with music and audience participation

I thought it was absolutely brilliant. The way the characters were brought to life was incredible. Only minor criticisms, it was too short, I could have watched it for double the time! The seats weren’t the most comfortable, but like I said, minor criticism. It was amazing, just hope more is done

Really enjoyed the show. The ‘Christmas Village’ wasn’t quite what the description led us to expect.

Beautifully done , very creative and obviously a classic Christmas tale but not exciting enough for 6,7 and 8 year olds ( or even grannies ) . A more musically driven show would ensure a better experience. Would like to leave feeling happy, Christmassy and uplifted.

Great show with the drones showing images of the Christmas Carol story. If there has been rain earlier you need to take something to dry your seats as noone else does.

An excellent show - exceeded my expectations. The drones were amazing.

We were very impressed with the show itself. The drone show was creative and interesting. The music/narration was at an appropriate level.
Only downsides were to do with the venue...no parking on site and all the seats were wet. Otherwise, it was a nice Christmas activity and something quite different to do as a family.

An amazing night with our grandchildren. Loved the food stalls. Pizza van was the best pizza ever, apparently they ssid. Amazing delicious food @ the curry van & thai van . What a treat. All very well organised & not too packed with people. So very very enjoyable. Everything was well managed. The 45minute show was about right. Not too long, or too short.A very entertaining night for all the family, of all ages. Would definately recommend & hopefully will go next year after this 1st experience.

Very enjoyable experience

We went as a family of 10, so we bought tickets as a treat for Christmas for our 3 children, their partners and 2 grandchildren. It was a fabulous show and was a good kickstart for Christmas. Thoroughly recommend going!

We had a magical time, it was such a beautiful experience, something we've never seen before. My autistic 5yr old was nervous about the amount of people, but enjoyed how relaxing the performance was, so much so that he fell asleep about 10 minutes before the end!
This is the first time in such a long time that he's been so focused on something visual that is has lulled him to sleep.
I loved the music, the laser lights, the atmosphere, everything. It was the perfect start to our Christmas!

We loved this special experience. The only thing which was a little bit of an anti climax was the ‘Christmas village’ it wasn’t much of a Christmas village, just a few funfair rides like tea cups. I wouldn’t suggest getting their as early as advised for this Christmas experience but the show was great and felt very special to share with family before Christmas.

Dazzling drone display that was well worth braving the cold for.

I was not disappointed. This was excellent. The Christmas Carol theme was appropriate. I thought that whilst the simple 3d shapes like the cracker, the bell and the clock worked well representation of human figures was pushing the technology too far. The soundscape was first class as was the supplementary lighting.

A Christmas Carol by drone was utterly amazing. Loved he story telling and drama. The lighting effects and drone technology simply spell binding. Whole-heartedly recommend the experience.

This colourful drone show illustrated a spoken text taken from Charles Dickens' book 'A Christmas Carol'. It was remarkable the way the drones formed images of Mr. Scrooge, a window frame, a Christmas present and much else. While the spirits of Christmas Past and Christmas Present came across clearly, that of Christmas Future did not, rather we were left following the story of the change in character of Scrooge. But overall the show was very enjoyable.

The evening was very enjoyable and the venue was ideal. Leading up to the evening Yuup sent friendly messages reminding that it was coming soon. Just before the day I l lost the e-tickets online but it was easy to contact Yuup and they replied quickly and I recovered my tickets. Look forward to future events put on by Yuup.

Very well put together excellent efforts and great narration

Overall it was a magical and very atmospheric experience enhanced by the perfect weather. Our only tiny criticism is that some of the gaps (presumably whilst the drones were repositioning?) could have done with filling with narration, music, lights.

It was OK. We were lucky with the weather. I wouldn't go again but it was alright. Expensive for what it is but some of the light displays were great. The story was a twist on the original and was a bit naff I thought. It wasn't the 'wow' we hoped for.

Enjoyed very much as a first drone show.
Didn't always get the images at first, although most were very good. Not sure Matt Lucas has sufficient 'range' for the number of characters.
Hot chocolate was disappointing, brown hot water with almost no flavour. Mulled cider had sold out when we tried to buy some on arrival. £6.80 for a can of Guinness was steep.

Amazing show, given the cold weather a perfect length!

A great mix of a very old well known story using modern day technology, focusing on the key elements of the tale.

This was such an amazing show. It gave me that feeling of childlike awe that we don't often get to experience as adults! My two children (10 and 5) both loved it too. So clever, so pretty.

I went with my partner and had a fantastic evening! All the staff were amazing, the food and drink options before the show were great, and the show itself was absolutely fantastic! The amount of hard work that must have gone into pulling that off was astounding, a really unique, creative and wonderful evening I would definitely recommend. Thank you so much! X

Was an amazing evening although very cold!

much more interesting and magical experience than any fireworks display. The size of the illuminations is enormous and can be seen by all. The audio was not very easy to hear since many people were talking over it.

It was fabulous, Matt Lucas did a great job and the drone manipulation was amazing. My only rider would be to tell people to bring blankets as it was freezing!!

Loved it! Such festive joy!

We loved this show, the only negative to say was that's house lights in the backdrop took away some of the effects of the amazing drones.

An excellent night out will be there next year 👍

Fantastic! Thoroughly enjoyed the experience. From booking to the day of the show we received regular updates via email & even the small mix up with food order was rectified without any fuss. Everyone at the event was extremely helpful.

It was a lovely way to get into the Christmas spirit. The staff were really friendly & helpful. The options for food & drink were spot on - especially the mulled wine/cider. Having got into the mood, the drone show was fantastic. Whilst some of the images took a while become clear, it was all incredibly clever. We were really lucky to have a dry, clear night and the bonus of a full moon. Thank you.

Brilliant experience

As mature adults, we felt the narration became a little tedious and panto-like. That latter might of course have been the aim!
But the wonderful opening sequence and perfect music raised our anticipation levels. Orchestrated to the right music would have been beyond brilliant.

It was amazing to watch and listen to the show. It was the first time to attend a show at the cricket ground. It was very well organised and having regular email contact, made it more enjoyable.

Fantastic unique show. Sound was a bit distorted and also there was a distinct echo that make the narration less clear than it could have been. However overall it was a fabulous show.

Unbelievable drone show! Superb narrative from Mr Lucas. Took my breath away and would recommend the show to friends and family. Hope it’s repeated next year.

A little underwhelmed...perhaps expected too much. Drones do good shapes and twinkles but are slow and too big when doing really rough outline of very big characters.The window spirit ball coming in was the most impressive shape framed. Voices could have been by different people. Pleased to have seen the show but would not go again.

What a wonderful night!!! We thoroughly enjoyed it and were enthralled by the drones. Also, the staff were just amazing! We got stuck behind an accident and we missed our show and the staff did everything to get us into the later show, so we didn’t all miss out. Brilliant staff and a total credit. Lovely to experience in this day and age!

Amazing show would definitely come back did think that the food selection was a bit limited. Nice to see some waffles. Pancakes pulled pork tacos dirty fries that sort of thin was very cold could do with some patio heaters or some fire pits so that you can toast marshmallows on before the show to keep warm. .

A brilliant experience, never thought such imagery could be created by drones.
The story, the music, and the light show went together so well and cheerily created a long-told story. Would definitely recommend, would definitely watch again.

Was really good

Something different and we didn't know what to expect but were very impressed and thoroughly enjoyed our evening. We had suggested it to friends who took children to the afternoon show and also really enjoyed the show.

Great night with a fabulous drone show.
My only moan would be the limited amount of food outlets which led to very long queues and then they were closed 10 mins before show which meant many, children, went without.
